My newest toy!

There was someone near me selling an APQS Ultimate II.  With a 12 foot table!!

We have decided to put the machine in the garage since it's on such a long table.  Maybe we will eventually move it into the house.

I have used long arms in the past, so I am itching to use MINE! but I haven't had time.  Danna has been back for a visit, so I would rather spend time with her.

I am sure there will be many more pictures of my beautiful new machine & the quilts I finish on her!

Cat mini

I have not done any swaps on instagram lately because I just don't have the time, I barely have the time to get the stuff I want done!

But I had to sign up for this one! It was a kitty mini swap! And since I love kitties, I had to do this one!

My partner asked for brights.  This is what I started with. . .

This is what I put on the back

And here is how the front ended up

Pillows

Jo-Ann's had a remnant on this Harry Potter fleece, and since some of our pillows are starting to fray I made some new covers for them.  I LOVE them!!  The smaller one I made for sale at a craft fair.

New quilt!

I need to start a new quilt like I need another hole in the head, but here we are! I took lights and darks, cut them 4.5" long (so it's 4.5" square) and then am sewing them in a stair step type pattern. Not sure what to call this one! (I know it's a rail fence)

Goals. . .ugh

I know this sounds silly, but I wish there was a decent app to post on my blog with! I have my pictures on my phone, and I only upload them to the computer about once a week.  I guess if I thought about it, while I am backing up my phone I could post.  So we shall see what I can get done.  The last time I updated this was in September!! UGH.

1. Post in my blog 7 times a month.  Even if I am just updating about how my leader/ender progress is coming.  I need to write!
- Didn't get this one done :(

2. Finish Quilts for my nephew (it's started), B for graduation (no clue what to do!), A for Christmas (log cabin), J for Christmas (scrappy strings). Make tee-shirt quilts (3).
- Scrappy strings is coming along, B graduation is done (monochromatic stars), and I am working on two tee-shirt quilts (one done). Nothing new to add to this list :(

3. Organize and use my 2.5" squares.  I have been thinking about doing a color quilt with the different colored squares I have.
This one is done, I would try to find something else to use as a goal, but I am thinking since school has started my sewing time will be drastically cut down.
I did make a quilt out of these and it really helped!

I am not sure what my goals for 2019 will be.  I have some UFOs I need to get finished.  I also really want to post in my blog more.  I love coming back and reading, it's the getting it posted that ends up being the issue!

I finally have a few squares for Scott's beer quilt done!! I love how it's looking! I can't wait to get it more done!

Busy busy

I have been real busy lately, between school and family stuff, I have barely had time to sew :(

Here is a set up from my craft fair today.  I really like having my tee-shirt quilt displayed like that, it definitely drew a lot of people in!

I have had a little time to play with my cricut and I made these potholders which make great teacher gifts!

Bow tie quilt - status - FINISHED!!!

It's finally finished!!! Quilted, bound and washed!

Here's the back.  It's Eiffel towers, I bought it in 2007! I am glad to finally have a use for it!

cricut tiles

I wanted to play with making tiles with my cricut machine.

These are small, 2 inches by 4 inches.   I wanted something small in case someone wanted something small to add to their order.

I decided they would be $2 for one or $5 for 3.  They were super easy to make, and real cute!

11 September 2018

Beer Quilt!

I am going to be making a beer quilt for my husband.  I had been squirreling away fabric for a while, I found a pattern I liked and so my husband and I went through all my fabric to find where I had put all the beer fabric.

Binding, Binding!

I am having the hardest time coming up with binding to put on my bow tie quilt.  I went through all my purples to try to pick one.

September goals

1. Post in my blog 7 times a month.  Even if I am just updating about how my leader/ender progress is coming.  I need to write!
- Ooops! I don't know where August went! Well I kind of do.  School started, then my friends daughter moved into college.

3. Organize and use my 2.5" squares.  I have been thinking about doing a color quilt with the different colored squares I have.

Microwave cozies

Jordan got a lot done on her visit here.  She made 4 microwave cozies for her family.

30 July 2018

Cat kicker toy

A local cat shelter had asked people to make cat kicker toys to sell as a fundraiser.  Well I wanted to try it out before I made them for them.

Minnie sure enjoyed the toy!

Earl wasn't as sure, but he enjoyed the cat nip in it.

Mochi went to town! She loved it!

28 July 2018

tacos table runner

This is some of the fabric I bought from a Jo-Ann's that was closing.  I LOVE the tacos fabric.  I managed to find this green that I think compliments it well.  I am going to put a fall design on the back side, so it's double sided.

26 July 2018

Sewing room

Michaels had a good deal on some plastic storage, and they were exactly what I was looking for.  So I bought them.  But that meant I wanted to clean up.

Jordan was out and she helped me.

I almost don't want to sew it's so clean!!

25 July 2018

shorts

Jordan came out for another visit (link here).  She had some things she wanted to sew.  So we went to town.

She wanted to make shorts, I found a pattern I had.  So she got a new pair of shorts.

Here she is pinning the pattern to the fabric.

And here is Earl "helping" her.  As you can tell we are working on making him a quilting cat.  It's only been a few months :)

Cricut saves the day

I know I have posted about my grandma's quilt.  (Here is the original post, and again here when I made her a second quilt.) The reason I made her a second quilt was because hers was falling apart.  It was made in 2000, and was the first thing I made.

I knew I wanted to patch it up with this flannel fabric, and decided that hearts would look good.  I hadn't done it (and I have had her quilt for a while) but once I got my cricut, I KNEW that it would be a lot easier and I went to town.

I used fusible web, for two reasons a) so they would attach and b) to help them stay down.  I did also stitch around the edges.

I ended up having to put something like 15 heart patches on! But grandma was happy to get this back :)
