All people quilt January

Every year All people quilt does a UFO* challenge where you list out 12 UFOs you have, they give you a number each month and you work on that quilt.  I tried to do it in 2021, but moving half way during the year put a damper on getting that done.  I knew I wanted to do it again in 2023.

So I put together a list of all the quilts I had that still need to be finished.  And January's number was 3, and my number 3 was my pinwheel quilt a long, that I started in 2010.

I am excited to have the top done.  I knew I wanted to add borders, the issue was, I did not have a lot of the fabrics left.  I like how the borders turns out.

I am not 100% done with it, as I need to quilt it, but I think I have some fabric that will work nicely for the backing, once there's a nice weather day, I think I will be going to the garage to quit this.

* UFO - Unfinished Object - can be a quilt that you started, that you haven't even cut, but it's a project that isn't done!

Goals. . .ugh

I know this sounds silly, but I wish there was a decent app to post on my blog with! I have my pictures on my phone, and I only upload them to the computer about once a week.  I guess if I thought about it, while I am backing up my phone I could post.  So we shall see what I can get done.  The last time I updated this was in September!! UGH.

1. Post in my blog 7 times a month.  Even if I am just updating about how my leader/ender progress is coming.  I need to write!
- Didn't get this one done :(

2. Finish Quilts for my nephew (it's started), B for graduation (no clue what to do!), A for Christmas (log cabin), J for Christmas (scrappy strings). Make tee-shirt quilts (3).
- Scrappy strings is coming along, B graduation is done (monochromatic stars), and I am working on two tee-shirt quilts (one done). Nothing new to add to this list :(

3. Organize and use my 2.5" squares.  I have been thinking about doing a color quilt with the different colored squares I have.
This one is done, I would try to find something else to use as a goal, but I am thinking since school has started my sewing time will be drastically cut down.
I did make a quilt out of these and it really helped!

I am not sure what my goals for 2019 will be.  I have some UFOs I need to get finished.  I also really want to post in my blog more.  I love coming back and reading, it's the getting it posted that ends up being the issue!

Recap 2013 & goals for 2014

About a year ago I set up 3 goals for myself.

1. Post 100 times.  I posted 102! Just barely made it in!  The first trimester at school was a killer, I barely had any free time to myself!

2. Finish 7 quilts.  I did not get that done :( I finished 4 (full) quilts by the end of the year.  I have 3 tops that are done and one that is almost finished.  It is definitely because of not being able to use the long arm.  I LOVE long arming.  And quilting on a sewing machine is just not the same for me.

3. Try three different/new to me patterns.  I made rootbeer & bubble gum which had a modified Ohio star and a string quilt.  So only two new ones.

I am not sure what my goals for 2014 should be.  I would definitely like to be more present in the blogosphere.  I do know part of my struggle with this is time, it's not always the easiest when I am only on a PC for school.

1. Post in my blog 7 times a month.

2. Finish 2 quilts on my home machine that isn't just straight stitching.

3. Finish 5 UFOs.

We will see how things end up going!

NewFO

So I have a few UFOs, but I have things I want to start, and I don't always start them because I feel guilty about my UFOs, but Barbara at catpatches is hosting NewFO.  So I am going to list projects I would like to start, so that I can come back and keep myself accountable and START them!

1. Fat cats quilt.I got this ruler for Christmas two years ago! I want to make it!  So one of my goals for this year is to get this quilt done!  Just googling fat cat ruler there are SO many cute ideas I could do!

2. Easy Street.  Bonnie Hunter started a mystery this year called Easy street.  I would really like to do it, since I haven't completed a mystery of hers yet!  This one seems like fun, plus it will help me practice flying geese which I am not too fond of.

3. Heart Quilt.  I love heart blocks and I would like to make a quilt full of quilt blocks.  I have already started laying out how my design will be. I even have an idea of who I will give it to ;)

Long arm part 2

I got three things finished on the long arm this week. One I already showed. So this is the second.

This actually started as a way for me to practice a table runner. So I basically sewed three table runners together :p

I just did a meander on it.  I love meandering!

Here you can see what the back looks like.  It doesn't necessarily match but it's pretty!

More finishes!

I'm shocked! Now I probably should have been grading papers, but my sewing machine was calling my name!

I finished two more UFOs tonight (unfinished objects).

The first is my first jean/flannel rag quilt. Granted it has not been washed and "ragged" yet. I have definitely learned a lot about it. Next time the squares will be bigger and I will take a 1/2" seam allowance.

The second was a fleece "rag" quilt I bought at Jo-Ann's in 2005! I needed to get that bad boy done! And hopefully out of my house soon!
