Design Wall Monday

Here is my design wall Monday, except really it's a design bed Monday!

I actually started this quilt FOUR years ago!! (Read here for more about it).  It's just been sitting in a box.  I don't know WHY I haven't worked on it.  I suppose it's just gotten buried by other things.  I needed a break from some other things I am doing, so I decided to pull it out.  And I laid them out.  I had originally thought about using the two different backgrounds, but I realized I didn't have enough of the blue.  So I decided to lay them out like this.  (I decided a while ago I wanted it on point).  I quite like it.

Now I just have to figure out the sashing and cornerstones.  Then the setting and corner triangles.

I am linking up with Design Wall Monday

I am also linking up to Work in progress Wednesday

Crumb quilting

A few years ago I started a crumb quilt.  I made a bunch of 4" squares that had all these little bits of all the quilts I've done.  It's been sitting in a box, I'd been using strings, but not my crumbs as much, well I recently found Jo's Country Junction where she was running a crumb along quilt.  I didn't find out about it til after it had started, and I didn't have a lot of time to sew until now, so I couldn't participate at the same time as everyone else.

I am also doing my crumb quilt a little differently.  Not only am I using all those little scraps I have left over, I am using blocks that I have left over also.  I also have some test blocks I have made.  And here is what I have so far:

I have been following along with the crumb along also, I made a bunch of mini flying geese. Hopefully I can get it done this week!

BOM & Mystery quilt

Block of the month and random sewing progresses. . .

Here is the block for December. . .I don't actually like it that much :p but I was able to use things other than my dotted fabric that I have no more of!

And here are all 5 blocks so far!

Here is what I have been working on. . .it's for the quiltville mystery quilt. . .I finished all the little 2" pieces! Those were annoying!! And now it's making a bunch (120!!) HSTs that are pink & brown.  I have about 50 :( And I am also working on these (pictured) blocks now.  They are 8.5" square, but they are done as string blocks, which is why it looks the way it does. . .I have to make 60 of them, so I think I am going to wait to trim them, while I watch a movie or something.  Because there is going to be a lot of them!!

I realized while doing these blocks (which are to be neutrals) I don't have many neutrals, whether it's white or cream. . .I am not sure why.  Maybe it's cause I like colors so much?

I am also done making all the rows for the Tetris Quilt.  I still need to find the perfect backing!

I am still working on my basket weave quilt, I just need to get it laid out.  Tomorrow I think will work well for that :)

I believe that is all from me.  I hope you are all having a good evening!

How many projects can I work on at once?

This one is a commissioned project.  For a friend.  It's actually something I have wanted to do for years, but I am a little OCD, so the design was what was stopping me. . .She gave me the design, so I can work around that!

I follow Bonnie (of Quiltville - the link is her blog), she has the best site! I love all the scrappy ideas she has!! Well right now she is hosting a mystery quilt along, and I thought I would participate.  good thing it doesn't matter who finishes first ;)  The first part is to make 172 2" strips that are pink/green/pink.  I have 16 ;) I have a lot to go.  I tried to use as much from scraps as possible, but I just don't have that much pink or green.

This is my "basket" weave quilt.  Well more squares.  I need to lay it out and see how many more I need to do, I should be getting close (I hope so!)

I am still working on triangles for my values quilt.  and I need to pull out my brown bag quilt and just FINISH it! although I have a few months til it's "due" so maybe something will hit me so that I can make it just a little bigger.

My sister's tee shirt quilt is coming along nice.  I have decided how I am going to do the sashing, I just need to get it put on ;) I just want to do it perfect! Cause heavens knows her first quilt was far from perfect (but she still loves it, so I am ok with that :) ).

I've still had no luck finding my background for my BOM :/ I even tried a Jo-Ann's in Indy.  So far I have looked in Minnesota, Wisconsin and three stores (plus I called three) in Indiana! Let's hope that Iowa has SOMETHING!

Quilt along

I haven't had a chance to post pictures in a while, I didn't get a lot done weekend before last, but I got a few blocks made this past weekend. This weekend is a 4 day weekend, so I hope to get some sewing done tonight, but we will see how busy I end up being.

Here are the blocks I have been working on. I also have a quilt top that is about 70% done, but I don't have any pictures of it. Maybe this weekend :p

This is BY far my favorite block so far! ^ I am not sure if it's the colors or the pattern!

I hope you all are having a good evening!

Quilt along blocks 4

Here are my first two color combinations. I don't like the layout of this block, it basically used flying geese, (but as half square triangles). If you look closely this is almost the same pattern as I posted last week. I liked that better with triangles. And here are all 8 blocks I have finished so far!!

Another quilt a long ;)

I LOVE IT!! I found another quilt a long ;) here is the link it's a jelly roll quilt a long, but I am just going to use fabric from my stash, I think that I am going to put this with the second quilt a long I am doing, cause that won't have a lot of blocks either.I think I could have made better choices about what went in the middle. . .but we will see how it looks in the end ;)

I also spent Thursday night sewing. I was working on some maverick stars from this site
This is Pepé helping me ;)
And here is a close up of one of the blocks.

More sewing this weekend!

I have spent almost all of today sewing. Later comes the grading :(

Today I made:
a reusable bag
a head wrap for after the shower (no pictures of that)
block 3 of the quilt a long

So here are your pictures! Here is block 3 for the quilt swap! This is the reusable bag I made
It has nice lining, and it could technically be turned inside out!

The head wrap is for use after a shower. My host daughter has one, I thought it was pretty cool, and I had a small towel that I don't really use (too big for the kitchen too small for the bathroom) so the only part I had to sew was the top, because I used the edges of the towel.

I also got some work done on my next string x quilt, or my blocks for them!

Quilt along 2. . .

After finding the pinwheel sampler quilt a long, I decided to google quilt a long, to see what else I could find.

I found one and I decided to start it. . .So I will have quite a few different blocks started ;) But I am going to try to keep them very organized!

Here is a picture of the block I made tonight:I like this block! And the fabric, they are both from my stash. . .I am working on destashing as much as possible, especially since I have quite a bit of fabric that is just a little bit (less than a half a yard) left!
