Tee shirt quilt - quilting

I got the tee shirt quilt on the long arm!  I chose to quilt it with a meander and grey thread.

I managed to get it quilted in one night!

Up next, trimming and binding!

I am loving how this is coming together!! I have the two pieces almost all done so I can sew them together! Then I need to add strips to the top and sides, and then quilt it of course!

Things definitely changed from my last picture!  I have started adding some sashing to the blocks.  I also added a few smaller blocks to make it look a little more irregular.  I am definitely enjoying how it's coming together!

I knew the customer wanted the blocks to not be in straight lines, so this is my first go of trying to arrange them so that they didn't look like they were just in lines.

Tails are almost done.  I realized after I put the tail pieces up on my design wall, that the purple kitty body needs to be redone!  Oops!

I have all my cat heads and bodies sewn together!! Now to attach the tails!

Tee shirt quilt 1

I was hired to make a tee shirt quilt.  She wanted a "puzzle" type quilt.  Which was a first for me (but totally doable!)

I cut out and interfaced all the shirts in one night (I love my heat press!).

Then I spent another few nights trimming the shirts.  I started with them all being the same size width, and I left some of them longer than others.

This is my first picture of just laying the blocks out to try to figure out how I was going to put them together.

Table runners

I don't know how it's been so long since I have posted! Life gets so busy that I don't have time to sew let alone post!

I have some halloween table runners that need some Christmas backs, so I put up the designs on my wall to see which one I liked better.

I kind of like them both, but lean towards the second because of the spacing with the white.

Spools Quilt

This is not all the blocks just some of my recent ones.  You can kind of see what I have been working on! a lot of pinks!!

This puts me at about 200 blocks!!

Border

This is what I got done at the Thursday group I have joined at the library. 

Here is a sampling of the border on my design wall.  I don't normally like to do borders, because when I get a quilt top done, I just want to finish it! But the quilt this is going on, needed to be a little bit bigger.

Scrappy trips

 I finished my two scrappy trips quilts in April.  I needed to use up two bobbins that had purple thread on them (I also need to buy more bobbins!)  So these were perfect.  I used up whatever I had at home to make the back.

The quilting actually didn't take long.  I think it's because I usually make bigger quilts.  But I got this one quilted in under and hour.  (That does not include loading it)

I did wavy lines going the same direction as each block.  Something different than a meander!

This is how I know I have been sewing up a storm, the bow tie blocks are multiplying!  I currently have 60!

Minnie and I have come to an arrangement while I am cutting fabric.  She lays next to me and "helps".

While I am sewing it is a different story.  Her and Earl both want to help me.

I finished a quilt top, but wanted to make it a little bit bigger, so I am making a border that needs a lot of HSTs (half square triangles).  So I spent a lot of time cutting and sewing.

Minnie has taken a lot of my time also, she just wants to cuddle!

Quilting

I put this on the long arm on Tuesday, even though it was a warm out, but the garage is definitely cooler than outside!

I used blue variegated thread.  The quilt took almost 4 bobbins.  I really need to get some more bobbins, but I think thread needs to come before that! I am definitely going through a lot more thread with the long arm!

I chose to do a meander design.

Blue log cabin

I started this log cabin in 2015! I had many of the parts done, but putting it together was difficult because of how large it is.

I tried to lay it out to see how much backing I would need.  Earl decided to help.

Kitties are multiplying!

I decided to make some cats that face the left and some that face the right.

Round Robin 2

I posted about this second round robin from 2017.  I got kind of stumped on what to do. And then I saw this small cat blocks, and decided to use those to make a border for my round robin.

As I cut up fabric, for projects, I also cut up fabric for my leader/enders (bow tie & spools), but also for this (and a few other sizes for other quilt ideas I have).

Another new quilt?!

 I need another new quilt like I need a hole in my head.  But I have a nephew who never got a quilt.

I originally laid this design out.  I like it, but because of the variety of colors, it didn't seem like it would work for a little boy.

So I had thought about just using one color and neutral.  I like it a lot more.  Although I already have a few blocks of the other done, so I will probably end up making that a quilt sometime ;)

This block is called quartered star.

Pink & Purples quilt 4

I think I decided to do this layout for the pinks & purples quilt. I have started sewing the blocks into rows!

Now I need to start thinking about if I want a border and what I want on the back!
