cats on quilts

This is my sisters cat, Edna on my sisters' tee shirt quilt.

Here is Earl on the orange & white snails trail quilt.  I love how much he loves quilts.  He will lay on spots on the bed that have a quilt on them, and not others!

Finished quilt

I showed this quilt on the long arm.  But here is a picture of the full top.  It was hard to get a full shot of, because it's quite large!

Here is the fabric I picked for the backing.  And you can see the binding.

I decided to do a teal binding, I think it worked well even with the orange.

I was trying to sew the binding and noticed the quilt was not moving. . .Earl was NOT helping.

AT ALL.

This boy loves his quilts!

Sewing cats

I have been having a lot of help in my sewing room.

Minnie loves sitting on my ironing board (especially after I have ironed something!)

She is just too cute for words!

Earl for once was not sitting in front of my machine ;)

Beer quilt with the kitties

I am not sure how I get anything done without these two!  Minnie helped me trim the quilt so I could put the binding on it.

See, it isn't going anywhere with her sitting on it!

Earl was making sure it would be warm enough for Scott.

Once he decided it would be warm enough, he decided to help hold it down as I put binding on it.  He was not too happy when I had to move him!

Sewing with the cats

I have been sewing in my living room lately.  I put my featherweight on a TV tray.

One of my biggest struggles in my sewing room is the cats! They want to cuddle with me ALL the time.  Which I am NOT complaining about, I love cuddling with them.  But I cannot get work done while they are cuddling with me, they generally try to sit in front of the machine so I cannot sew!

Well they LOVE it when I sew in the living room, there is room for both of them on the love seat with me.

I was working on microwave cozies.  I have a few new patterns and some others I have ran out of.  They aren't 100% done, so I don't have pictures of them.

Sewing up a storm

Minnie and I have come to an arrangement while I am cutting fabric.  She lays next to me and "helps".

While I am sewing it is a different story.  Her and Earl both want to help me.

I finished a quilt top, but wanted to make it a little bit bigger, so I am making a border that needs a lot of HSTs (half square triangles).  So I spent a lot of time cutting and sewing.

Minnie has taken a lot of my time also, she just wants to cuddle!

Cats on Quilts

Well Earl sure loves my new quilt! After I got it washed and put it on the chair in my sewing room he promptly took over :)

Both Minnie & Earl love my bowtie quilt!

weighted blanket

My mother in law wanted a weighted blanket, but they are expensive, I told her I would make her one!  So here is about half the rows done.

the kitties of course had to help!

Earl was NOT helping, this is heavy to move through my machine!  I am getting a workout sewing it!

Kitties quilting

I have been having a lot of help quilting lately! Here is Minnie keeping the chair warm.

Earl usually lays in the box near the window (which I have a towel in for the kitties).  the other day he was going crazy trying to get all the leaves blowing around.

Mochi isn't not much help, sitting right where I need to work!

And here are all three! Not doing much to help ;)

I have been busy making cat toys!

These sell pretty well at my craft fairs!

Cat kicker toy

A local cat shelter had asked people to make cat kicker toys to sell as a fundraiser.  Well I wanted to try it out before I made them for them.

Minnie sure enjoyed the toy!

Earl wasn't as sure, but he enjoyed the cat nip in it.

Mochi went to town! She loved it!

Kitty helpers

I had some help making sure my fabric wasn't multiplying!

Pepé was just sitting here waiting to come yell at me that it was bedtime.

I got smart and added a towel to this box so Minnie (or whomever) wouldn't get hair all over everything!

And these two loved helping me sew!

Not able to sew. . .

It is very difficult to sew when I have a helper!! She likes to sit on top of whatever I am working on.  Yesterday it was the back for my celtic solstice quilt.

Rescues!!

I have shown pictures of my two kitties, but never told their stories.  Lily Pad Quilting is having a blog hop/giveaway for people that share about their rescues!!

I have two kitties.  Minnie & Pepé.  Minnie I got right after my husband I got married, and we were living apart (we both accepted jobs three hours apart on the same day! oops) and I wanted a friend.  I was looking around Craigslist and I saw this little face looking back at me:

The lady I got her from was actually just cat sitting while HER friend was in Germany (her dad was sick).  But the lady I got her from had a baby and Minnie would NOT stay out of the crib, and the baby was allergic to cats (but only really affected because Minnie was in her face).

So she came home with me.  We became fast friends.  She was my little shadow.  She would even shower with me.  Well she would sit between the two shower curtains.  She slept with me every night.

I always felt like Minnie wanted a friend.  So when we moved to Indiana I begged my husband to let us get her one.  His moms' best friend is the kind of person that kitties just FLOCK to!! And she had a little boy kitty (I wanted a boy because I know Minnie is dominant) that was three-ish years old.

And I got my little Pepé (yes like Pepé le pew) my husband named him!

Minnie & Pepé did NOT get along at first.  But now they are FAST friends! Almost always together.  Minnie takes care of her "little" older brother.  They love to cuddle and play!

I am also linking up with Feline Friday.
