Churn dash quilt

Well I finished the blocks I needed for my churn dash quilt.  But I felt like it needed something, there was only one yellow block.  So it felt, I don't know, kind of "heavy".

So I made two more yellow blocks, another pink, and a purple.  But now I am not happy with the size, it's SO much longer.

So I think I am going to do something I have never done, I am going to make it square, currently it's 6 blocks by 4 blocks, I am going to make it 5 by 5, which means I need one more block, but I think I will enjoy the size quite a bit more.

I am excited to finish this quilt! I have had it too long! (I started it in 2014!)  That's one of the good things about cleaning and organizing my sewing room, I am able to get to some of these projects that have been hiding.

Design wall Monday

Sorry for my absence over the past few weeks.  With Christmas coming up, I was so busy crafting (not just sewing!) that I didn't have time to post, but now I will have plenty of posts coming up!

I started this a few years ago, for the rainbow scrap challenge.  I want to get it done! Looks like I only need to make two more blocks.  Maybe a yellow and an orange?

I got quite a bit behind in April (I notice a pattern here! April is TERRIBLE for sewing for me!) but got these whipped out.

Rainbow scrap challenge

After getting my Bonnie Hunter quilt books I proceeded to fall in love with a few quilt patterns.  One I thought that I would be good for the rainbow scrap challenge, of course, this means that I have to revisit January & February's colors.  (Which kind of works out, because I am not doing March's color of Teal).

This block will allow me to practice my flying geese (which I am not real fond of)

This block requires string blocks!!! Which I love!!

You put the string blocks together with a 9 patch (sorry I forgot a picture of it on it's own!)

And VOILA!!! the finished block! I LOVE it!! I have a layout all picked out, now I just need to get the blocks done!

Shout out to my husband who says he reads my blog :p

Rainbow Scrap challenge - Pink

 Soscrppy

February's color was pink.  Which was actually not that tough for me! I seem to have a lot of pink (not quite as much as I do blue though!)

Rainbow Scrap Challenge

Soscrppy

I kind of did this last year, but I am going to be a lot better about participating this year!! I decided I would do a churn dash pattern, it's something I have wanted to do for a while, so this is a good way for me to make a quilt I've wanted to do and use up those scraps!

January's color is blue.  I think I am going to make 3 blocks each month.

Here are my three blocks. I found some neutrals I've had (I don't think I had enough of one neutral to do a whole quilt top) that little mermaid print I've had forever. I needed to cut it up and use it.
