About a year ago I set up 3 goals for myself.
1. Post 100 times. I posted 102! Just barely made it in! The first trimester at school was a killer, I barely had any free time to myself!
2. Finish 7 quilts. I did not get that done :( I finished 4 (full) quilts by the end of the year. I have 3 tops that are done and one that is almost finished. It is definitely because of not being able to use the long arm. I LOVE long arming. And quilting on a sewing machine is just not the same for me.
3. Try three different/new to me patterns. I made rootbeer & bubble gum which had a modified Ohio star and a string quilt. So only two new ones.
I am not sure what my goals for 2014 should be. I would definitely like to be more present in the blogosphere. I do know part of my struggle with this is time, it's not always the easiest when I am only on a PC for school.
1. Post in my blog 7 times a month.
2. Finish 2 quilts on my home machine that isn't just straight stitching.
3. Finish 5 UFOs.
We will see how things end up going!

November Goals
I haven't posted in a while. I am sorry about that. I haven't done much. School and life have been real crazy. And when I get the chance to sew, I don't take it. I thought about why last night. Right now I have four quilt tops done. BUT I don't have the motivation to finish them. I think it's because
I no longer have access to a long arm machine. The quilt shop where I used to rent my machine had a fire, they are finally back open again, but the long arm machine isn't there anymore.
After using a long arm machine, I don't want to use anything else!! laying out a quilt, pinning/safety pinning it, then fighting with it through the machine, it's so much work! I feel it's so much more work than using the long arm. I just need to suck it up though, since I have 4 quilts to finish by Christmas!
Going through my goals. . .
1. Post 100 times. This is post 98! I think I will be ok on this one, I have plenty to talk about once I finish these quilts!!
2. Finish 7 quilts. Well I have finished 2. And as I said above I have 4 tops that are done, 1 I am working on. So that would be my 7.
3. This one hasn't changed, and won't change, unless I can find time to work on my tumblers! I have tried a string quilt, which is new to me, I did rootbeer & bubble gum (in my own colors), and I would still like to try my tumblers quilt!
I am going to try to spend as much time as possible in my sewing room next week, it's the start of the trimester, so things should be a little slower in the grading department. Maybe I can whip out one finished quilt. Then I probably won't have a lot of time to sew until after Thanksgiving. We aren't going to DC to spend it with my friend, because she has been deployed, so we will go visit my family, which means no time for sewing!

Goals check in - october
Time to check in and see how I am doing on my goals for the year.
1. Post 100 times - I am at 92 right now!! I think I have this one! I am glad I did it, it really forces me to make sure I was posting. I really like being able to go through and see the progress of my projects, it shows me where I have come from, and all that I have done.
2. Finish 7 quilts. Well I have two (which I have mentioned the kitty quilt, and the quilt for my father in law). I have three flimsies done. Plus I am working on one.
3. I have tried a string quilt, which is new to me, I did rootbeer & bubble gum (in my own colors), and I would still like to try my tumblers quilt!

Goals Check in
Oops!! I didn't post this for July or August!! Boy was I busier than I thought I would be this summer!
1. Post in my blog 100 times. I am at about 80. So as long as I don't drop off the face of this earth, then I should get there :)
2. Finish 7 quilts (that aren't UFOs) I have the kitty quilt and the quilt for my father in law. So 2. But I am currently working on about 5 :p I do have the black & white log cabin top done. So 4 more flimsies to make before I can have a total of 7.
3. I have started my string quilt, I would count the heart blocks as a new pattern, and another project I haven't shared yet! (which uses parts of what I have done before and part of what I haven't.)
I think I picked good goals :) I am reaching them all, albeit slowly, but I will get there.
One thing I would really like to do by the end of the year is finish my husband's tee-shirt quilt.

Goals check in
This is kind of pointless this month, since I didn't get much done in May. But I will keep it up to remind me what I need to do ;)
1. 56 posts. Like I said I didn't get much done in May, only 5 posts!
2. As I said before I finished two quilts. I am not really near finishing others, but still working on some. Plus I had a friend ask me to make her two quilt/wall hangings. So I will definitely hit 7 this year!
3. The quilts my friend asked me to make are a new pattern to me! Woohoo! Plus I still have my tumblers quilt to start, and I bought a new ruler to try out. Now I just need to start the quilts :)
School is out soon, so I will be spending more time in my sewing room. I love my routine in the summer. I sleep in (til 8) go to the gym, then go home and sew. I can't wait!

Yearly goals
Wow! It's May 13th! I'm not sure where the time went! I know I was sick toward the beginning of the month. But how is the month half way over? These were my original goals, you can also use the tag goals 2013.
1. 51 posts for the year. 49 to go. I believe this is my 198th post, and I am going to have a giveaway for my 200th post, so stay tuned!!
2. I have finished 2 quilts this year!! (Kitties quilt & my quilt for my FIL) woohoo!! I haven't been in my sewing room lately, but I do have some Christmas presents that I am working on. So that's five. So I think I am good!!
3. So far I have my string quilt, and once I get it started my Lorax quilt.
I had also posted about my goals for April
* I didn't even start my Lorax quilt. Well I guess that's a lie, I started some test blocks (I don't want to cut into that lovely fabric and mess something up).
* I didn't bind my long arm projects from last year :(
* I have thought about the stockings. Does that count :p
* And I did finish two quilts (Kitties quilt & my quilt for my FIL)
I am not going to make goals for May, because I know I won't get them finished. I am not sure when/if I will have time to sew, I am busy this weekend, and I am not sure what we are doing for memorial day.

April goals check in
Wow it's the first of April. I'm checking in on my goals.
1. 37 posts. I think right now this goal will be met. But the year isn't over yet.
2. I really want to finish something soon. I have so many on-going projects, it would be nice to say, hey, I got this one done! Hopefully during break this week I can finish 1.
3. I still have two new quilts to start. (One is the string quilt) and then I also have the lorax tumbler quilt (which will also use my fat cat ruler). My sister bought me a quilt book, which I'd love to try a pattern from.
I feel like I've picked good goals for the year. They're totally doable to me, and I've been able to make progress on them.

Goals check in
I know I'm a few days late, but I was sewing all weekend and didn't have a chance to post. Here is my original goals post in January (where did the time go!)
1. I have posted in my blog about 25 times this year. I didn't post as much in February as I would have liked, but I also wasn't able to be in my sewing room much.
2. I am on track to finish 1 by the end of this month, and three more anytime. So that's four and it's not even half way through the year :)
3. I am making a string quilt (which I have done string quilts but not this way). I would really like to try a rail fence block. I tried it a few years ago and it went HORRIBLY wrong.

Goals check-in
It's been about month since I posted my goals, so I thought I would check in to them (here).
1. Well I have posted in my blog 17 times since January. So I think I might have this one in the bag ;)
2. I have three quilts started as gifts. my new string quilt So I need to decide the other 3 :)
3. I haven't tried a quilt pattern from a book, but I have tried some squares. And I bought another book! (what was I thinking?!)

2013
My husband and I have been traveling, so I haven't had much time to post. But I have wanted to post about my sewing goals for the year.
1. Post in my blog 100 times in the year. That's about 7 posts a month. I posted 83 posts last year, I think I can do it.
2. Finish 7 quilts this year (not counting UFOs) I finished 7 last year, and only one was a UFO. And that doesn't count the baby quilts I made.
3. Try 3 different quilt patterns I haven't tried before. I have some books that haven't been used, and I would like to use them!
I think 3 goals for now is good. I am going to try to come back to my goals at least once a month to check up on how I am doing.
