D9 quilting
I have the quilt on my long arm. I decided to use a yellow wide backing. I think I forgot to mention this in my last post, but 108" wide backings are now my favorite things. I love the way pieced backs look, but the ease of putting a wide backing on the long arm So nice!
I used the featherweight to put the binding on. Since I had extra from the wide backing I chose to use that as the binding.
That's probably been the most surprising thing from having my accuquilt. I use it to cut my binding, and I have SO much binding right now! In a variety of colors, because when I cut it I get a lot of strips. So I save them, they work great on my scrap quilts.

D9 cut
I got all the pieces of the disappearing 9 patch cut up. I love having my design wall! I found a few blocks I had put up incorrectly first. But because of leaving it up there any looking at it, I realized that I had a few turned incorrectly.
It definitely took some work to get all the pieces spaced out, so there weren't yellows, purples or teals too close.
I love the way the pattern looks, and sewing it together is nice because there aren't seams to match.

D9 blocks
I finished all the blocks I need for my disappearing 9 patch. I know it will lose a little bit of length and width once cut apart and sewn back together.
I know some of the purples are are brighter and darker than others, but I think it will work once they are cut apart.
For those that have never heard of a disappearing 9 patch, now that they are all finished, I will cut it down the middle both up and down and across, then I will sew it back together.

Disappearing 9 patch
I think I am going to call this quilting springing from Hawaii, because it's spring like colors and some of the fabrics came from Hawaii.
I love how easy disappearing 9 patches go together, and how interesting the design ends up looking.

Disappearing nine patch on the design wall
Here are my disappearing nine patch blocks on my design wall. They sure do work up fast!!
I think I have enough blocks done! Now I just need to sew them into rows. I am still trying to decide how I will quilt it, I am going to do this one on my home machine.
I am linking up to design wall Monday.

Disappearing nine patch
I asked on the quiltville open studio facebook page if anyone could suggest a quick pattern. And they suggested a disappearing nine patch. I have always wanted to do one, but just haven't. So this was a great excuse to!!
It really does come together quite quickly. I sewed four blocks together, and cut them apart, and had time to sew one into a new block, I am sure I can get quite a few of these done in a night!
