Scrappy trips

I signed up for another round of scrappy trips, so I thought I should lay out my blocks to show what I have.  Silly Pepé couldn't be bothered to move! 

There will only be one more round unless someone else steps up :(

Harry Potter mini quilt swap

I have loved Harry Potter since it came out, first the books, then the movies.  There was a mini quilt swap for Harry Potter, so I had to sign up!

This is what I made my partner.  A mini with the crest.  I also sent along some gryffindor goodies.

Here is what my partner sent me!  She made the wrapping paper herself!! and look at those adorable cross stitch characters!!

 Here is my mini, the picture is kind of crappy because I took the picture in my car, and I keep forgetting to take a picture in the house!  She said this was her first mini and I think she did LOVELY!!!

Dog Mini

Here is the mini my foster daughter made for the dog mini swap.  She found the design and I helped her with it.

For the quilting she decided on wavy lines through the whole thing.

And here is the mini she received.  She was floored!  She loves it so much, she hung it in her bedroom right after opening it!

Passport holder

I've been doing swaps on instagram, and although I have been only trying to sign up for mini quilt swaps there have been a few that I had to sign up for!  This was a fun little thing to make up.  I made a few to try to sell at the craft fair this year.

Christmas in July

Here is another swap I was in.  Christmas in July!  It was nice getting a Christmas package in July.

This is what I received, a mini wall hanging and some notions.

I made my partner a table runner that is double sided.  One side was trees and the other leaves.

Painting night

We had a lot of guests this summer.  One my friends is kind of artsy, so I asked if she wanted to do a "paint night" but instead of going out, we did it at home.  We found a picture we liked and did something similar.

The one of the left is my friends, the one in the middle is mine, and the right one is my foster daughters.  I love how we all looked at the same picture but they all came out different!

This is what I got done Saturday!  Only about 50 more blocks to finish the whole quilt!

Fabulous Fandom Swap

Here is what I sent my swap partner - I made a mini with her name and some of her favorite Harry Potter things.

Here is what I received!  A lovely hand embroidered Shrek, kitty toys, a one hour basket and a mug that says crazy cat lady!

Stash bee

I have my stash bee blocks from March, but I am not sure what to do with them!

I tried this layout, with the bonus triangles being used as cornerstones.

First quilt

Since we have moved to Indiana, I have hosted my best friends kids (from Iowa).  This year the youngest (9) came out.  She wanted to make a quilt.  And she went to town.

Here is the finished top.  I learned a lot since her oldest sister came out.  I wasn't as stressed about everything ending up perfect.  Just let her go.

I cannot believe how quickly she got it done!  I am very proud of her!

Irish chain - baby quilt

My sister recently had a baby girl.  They waited to find out if it was a boy or a girl, so I came up with a quilt pattern that wouldn't require me to know.  Since they conceived in Ireland, I thought this would be a cute pattern.

Here is a portion of the back.  Once I found out the baby was a girl I knew this floral would be perfect, since it had green & orange.  But I didn't have enough, but I did have this cute pink.

Spring fling

Here is a collage of everything I received.I think my partner did a great job of stalking me.  I LOVE the Eiffel tower pouch (now what to use it for!!)

 

And here is the mini she made me!! Look at that pretty little PURPLE machine!!! I LOVE it! I need to find a place to hang it!

Nerds - swap received & sent

I posted about the Nerds swap here.  It was a swap I found on instagram. 

 Here is what I made for my partner.  It wasn't listed in her likes, but she mentioned she liked psych.

 

I love the pineapples.  I chose to go with minimal quilting since it's a wall hanging.

Here is a collage of the things I got from my nerds swap partner.  The top is a pin that looks like animal crossing.  Then some chocolate, a mini notebook and a laser light.  Then a painting!  With the Vulcan salute!

 

 She also made me a mini!!!! With Tetris blocks!!!! OMG!! SO in love!! This isn't where it will hang forever, but I wanted it put up for now!

Jelly Roll race

Here is the jelly roll I picked up for my jelly roll race quilt.

 I don't remember when I first heard about a jelly roll race quilt, but after watching the video I KNEW I wanted to make one.  I bought a jelly roll and finally got it done.

I started it on Tuesday night, sewing everything together took FOREVER! Then I pressed and trimmed (I don't think they pressed in the video I saw). 

I'm not as in love with it as some of the others I have seen.  I don't know if it's the colors or what not.  I do LOVE how fast it came together.  I will definitely be making another one!

Nerds!

 When I saw there would be a nerds swap on Instagram I instantly had to join!! Here is the collage I put together of my "nerdoms" : Animal Crossing, Shrek, Tetris, Cats, Harry Potter, Star Trek, Mario.

I cannot share what I am making for my partner since I think it will be a give away, but I will be mailing it later this month!

Scrappy trip along

I have been a part of the scrappy trip along bee for a few rounds now (I think this will be my third time?)

 I enjoy being a part of it!! There is SO much variety!! I also use it as time to make myself a few extra quilt blocks.  so hopefully I will have a top done. . .Sometime!  This was after the last round, I need to get a more up to date picture done!

Spring Fling

Here is the finished mini I made for the Spring fling swap.  I am VERY happy with how this came out.  And of course I forgot to take picture before shipping it.

So you can see the binding and kind of see the quilting here.  I thought the brown would nicely frame it.

Stash Bee 2015

Here are all the blocks I received from the Stash bee (hive 7).  OH MY GOSH!! The blocks are lovely!! I cannot wait to get them into a quilt together!

This picture shows all the blocks I have received plus some I have made myself.  I was thinking I would need A LOT more blocks, but I think a few more (because I am going to use a sashing) will be perfect.

I didn't get pictures of everything I sent to my partner but here is her mini and the label!  I hope she enjoys it.  

Spring fling

I joined instagram and have been using that as a way for me to share with the quilting community.  One of the more recent swaps I joined was the spring fling mini swap.

I was a little late in making it, but here is the collage I made.  It was one of the first surveys I filled out, so I wasn't sure what to say, but I said I liked the color purple (quite an understatement!) But I enjoy paper pieced things, snails trail is my favorite block, I love Shrek, vintage singers and anything cat or appliqué.

Here is the sneak peak I posted on Instagram for my partner.  I really hope she enjoys what I am making for her!

It is due this Friday, I need to finish the quilting on it and package it up!

Kitten mini quilt

The second swap I joined on instagram I HAD to because it was about CATS! And if you couldn't tell I love kitties!

This was the collage I made. I love that little kitty at the piano, I think him at a sewing machine would be adorable!!  I probably could have found about twenty other pictures I liked (and I made a pinterest board, called Cat blocks) but I limited my collage to these that I thought were most adorable!
