Finish #2!

I wanted to give this to my MIL for mothers day, I was planning on seeing her, but my husband and I changed our plans and I went to visit him while he was in Colorado for work.  So I finished this before I could leave!

I quilted about a 1/4" around each bird, even in between their legs.

Then I went around the B a few different times with differing distances.

And here it is on her dining room table.

Sit n stitch

I  was very productive at sit n stitch last night!! (if you can't tell by the mess!)

I got this top done.  And my disappearing nine patch has been sewn into rows that need to be sewn together!

Disappearing nine patch on the design wall

Here are my disappearing nine patch blocks on my design wall.  They sure do work up fast!!

I think I have enough blocks done! Now I just need to sew them into rows.  I am still trying to decide how I will quilt it, I am going to do this one on my home machine.

Disappearing nine patch

I asked on the quiltville open studio facebook page if anyone could suggest a quick pattern.  And they suggested a disappearing nine patch.  I have always wanted to do one, but just haven't.  So this was a great excuse to!!

It really does come together quite quickly. I sewed four blocks together, and cut them apart, and had time to sew one into a new block, I am sure I can get quite a few of these done in a night!

Block Swap adventure - April

For April my partner was Linda. Here is the kitty she sent me

And here is my block for her

Except I accidentally messed up! the middle square was supposed to be bigger! so I will be making another one with the correct dimensions!!

Top done

This is what I turned the little birdies into.  It definitely didn't need as many seams as it has, but I was trying to be very precise.  Now all I need to do is get it quilted!

There is SO much negative space, I could have added a few more birds.  oh well, too late to change it now!

THIRD FINISH OF THE YEAR!!!!

It's only the second finish I have posted about it, the other is on it's way to the recipient and so I can't show pictures yet!

Since I had the quilting done, I could attach the binding!!

I did machine stitch the binding, but will definitely be doing it differently next time (but still by machine ;) )

And I got the quilt done!!!  I am SO excited!!

I am linking up to Richard & Tanya's link a Friday finish.

Quilting

Here is Celtic Solstice on the long arm machine!!

I just did a meander, with some swirls.

I love how accomplished I feel finishing a quilt on a long arm!

Design wall

I am SO excited!!! I showed pictures of my new shelves.  Well I was thinking about it, and I could use some velcro and a flannel backed table cloth and VIOLA! I have a design wall!! I chose Velcro so that I take it down if I need it.

I started putting up bow tie blocks. I LOVE these little blocks.  I have decided to start sewing them into twosies and foursies!!

Not able to sew. . .

It is very difficult to sew when I have a helper!! She likes to sit on top of whatever I am working on.  Yesterday it was the back for my celtic solstice quilt.

TOP IS DONE!!!!

I am SO excited to have finished my Celtic Solstice top!!!! I LOVE the borders that were picked out! I cannot WAIT to get it quilted! I have decided on a back, I just need to put it together.

May Goals check in

1. I barely squeaked by last month!! I was not able to sew as much as I would have liked, going on Tuesdays really helps so that I get at least one night of sewing in!

2. I have changed this to finish 10 quilts this year.  I plan on doing one at the LQS on the long arm in a week.  Then I have another two tops that are done and ready to go.

3. Eeks!! Although I will say, since I have been rearranging my sewing room I have found a few that I really want to work on!!!

My sewing room

This is by far the smallest sewing room I have had.  I had things just piled up.  Well we decided to do something about it.  So my husband took measurements, and then we bought these huge shelve things!

There are 3 of them, and they are WONDERFUL!! This was just with my husband putting everything on the shelves, I am going through and rearranging things, making sure quilt blocks are put into boxes so I can find them, projects together instead of just put where ever!

And this is the rest of my sewing room (it looks a little messy right now since some of the stuff just got piled onto my cutting table.

Block Swap adventure

Here are almost all my kitty blocks I have received in the swap!! I have at least one more that I know I forgot.

These kitties are just too darling! (and of course Minnie HAD to be a part of it! Sorry kitty you will not be in my quilt!)
